On How to Get What You Want

I found the following  in my idea notebook a few months ago, and I've been mulling it over ever since...

Give what you want. 

A smile? Give a smile.

Friendship? Be friendly.

Want money? Give money.

Sales?  Help someone sell something.

Contacts?  Help someone else get contacts.

Teach and you'll learn. The more you teach those who want to learn, the more you'll learn.

 

I don't know where I found that exactly, or if I made it up at some point, but it's been on my mind. And tonight I'm wondering what you think about that.

We'd Love Your Easter Ideas!

I just sent an email to our 13yo ballerina (I know.  But. She's sleeping.  Email will do).  My email said,   "Let's do some Easter crafts & cut-out cookies with lil sis this weekend.  Wanna?" 

We noticed recently that we sort of stopped doing some memory-making things as the older two got older.  I guess our (non) thinking was sort of been-there, done-that, what's next?  But our younger two, now ages 11 and 8, need to have those happy memories, too.

On Being Kind

Plato said, "Be kind.  For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." 

We've been through the fire lately!  I know you're familiar with this feeling.   It seems we are all either coming out of it or going into it. We all have those days or weeks or months when things are not going according to what any sane person would ever plan, right?  I'm in one of those months.  

I find myself searching - craving - for beauty somewhere.  Anywhere.  

In a robin.

In a tree.

In a cup of coffee at that perfect spot between too hot and too lukewarm.  

In our little gal dancing with my old Holly Hobby doll.  

I'm looking into the faces of our children more, because what I crave the most is a kind face.

Maybe it's just that I want to know someone would be willing.  Willing to step away from her smolders to visit me by my fire for a moment.  

And when my fire smolders, or better yet, while it's still raging, I want to show you a kind face, too.

For everyone is going through a battle of some sort.
