I was asked to review the new album by Christian music artist Jonny Diaz last week, and quickly agreed after listening to his song, More Beautiful You.
With a preteen daughter in the house, nearly every day I am hit with the reality of how cruel this world (especially this country, really, I'm so sorry to say that out loud, America) is on the image of girls. We see airbrushed, spray-tanned, color-contact-wearing girls in magazines and on t.v., so that even a socially beautiful girl feels a little insecure.
I have two things to say about that:
1. All girls are beautiful.
2. Who are we to criticize God's artwork?
Even though I don't want our two little girls (ages 12 and 6) to feel like they need all sorts of things to feel beautiful, I want them to feel free to be girly and dabble in all the silliness they like (well, plastic surgery aside). And so we have white and blue toenail polish, an overflowing dress-up box, and an assortment of tangled cords belonging to straighteners, curling irons, and blow dryers.
Jonny's entire album is inspiring (his voice is ultra-soothing and I love his bio), but I'm especially loving his song, More Beautiful You. Please listen to the words while you watch this video. (It's totally worth the load time.)
Do you want a copy of Jonny Diaz's CD, Stand for You? Well, good, because...
I have 5 copies to give away!
To win, all you need to do is leave me a comment saying you want one! I know it'll bless you as it has me.
