It seems every Summer (or any season in my mild climate) there is at least one heart-breaking news story about a child drowning in a family pool. I did a little research this evening to see if there is a product that might help save lives.
Safety pool covers protect children by covering the pool securely with a mesh cover. They also protect your aching back since pool maintenance is reduced on a covered pool. Here is what a safety pool cover may look like:
It's not so bad looking, right? Besides protecting a child or pet, the cover is easy to remove and if you purchase a good one, it will be backed with a 12-15 year warranty.
About that aching back of yours...Although none of us are thinking of Winter in this oppressive heat (okay, I may be overstating how it feels in your area, but it's 95F here!), your back will thank you if you do a little research on winter pool covers. Covers protect both in ground and above ground pools during winter from icing over, from debris, and even from algae (be sure to look for one with a black underside that protects the pool from the sunlight, discouraging algae growth).
It just pays to do a little early shopping research for the sake of the pocketbook and for peace of mind. You won't have to think about shopping for a pool cover again in the 8-15 years, depending on which cover you choose, how's that?
