I forgot, when I posted about the Alpaca Farm Day, to show you these cuties that are made from alpaca fiber (fur?)...

The finger puppets are our children's favorite purchase from the alpaca farm ( I prefer the yarn, of course). When we got home the kids gathered past purchases of finger puppets (we have nine when they can all be found) and performed a little puppet show out of a shoebox.
These cuties, below, also made from alpaca fiber-fur-stuff, would have probably liked the puppet show, too...

Remember those two? They are the gossipy gals from my post a few days ago. The alpaca owner says their names are Roxsanne (white) and Lovely Lorraine (grey). Somehow, those names are so fitting for them!
(I'm wondering, does anyone else ever sing "Roxanne" in a growly voice whenever they see that name, thanks to Moulin Rouge?)
I am particularly fond of this sweetie, below, who has the face of an angel.

There are more photos of our local Alpaca Farm Day at the Alpaca Farmgirl blog. You can even buy an alpaca from her, if you can't resist that pretty face a minute longer, or if you'd like to have your own source of spinning fiber walking around the yard.

I LOVE the finger puppets! And I'll have to concede that the alpacas are mighty cute. Thanks for sharing your visit with us. (I can't wait to see what you make out of the yarn!)

Hi! I can't tell you how many farm emergencies I have taken care of on the farm when I NEEDED a babysitter but had none! Actually, a basket full of finger puppets does the trick quite nicely. My kids will play with the puppets and occupy themselves while I go herd up animals or talk with the vet, or deliver a cria (baby alpaca, "criation" in Spanish). Those puppets are mini lifesavers for me!
The alpaca you love is named Gypsy Princess. She is rose grey and belongs to a gentleman who lives in Daphne. She boards with us while he is getting his own farm. She will probably have a baby in the Fall of 2009. The other one that had the red rimmed eye actually had something in it. I think some dried mud. (Yuck!) But her name is Loretta and she's very big. Last year Loretta sheared 15 lbs. of fleece. That's a LOT! Thanks again, Love visiting your blog!

Actually, when I hear the name "Roxanne" I think of The Police song. ...And now I've got it in my head...
